On September 1st 2019, UMC will launch a Chinese language version of WHODrug Global, UMC’s standardized drug reference dictionary, as a step to help WHODrug users operate in their native language. The Chinese version, named WHODrug Global Chinese, includes information on drugs approved in China in addition to all drug information already available in WHODrug Global. WHODrug Global Chinese also features all ATC texts of the ATC hierarchy in China and will be continuously updated with new information in Chinese. The use of WHODrug Global Chinese will allow for simpler data submissions to authorities both within and outside of China.
On May 16th, the WHODrug Global User Group Meeting was held in Beijing where Viedoc representatives did a live presentation explaining how the new dictionary works in Viedoc and how efficient medical coding is in general. Thanks to Viedoc’s flexible database structure and since WHODrug Global Chinese is delivered as a separate dictionary file package following the same file structure as the English version, the implementation was straightforward without any need for additional development of the platform.
