Viedoc is one of the fastest-growing Electronic Data Capture (EDC) software providers on the market, complete with an eClinical platform to assist companies with efficient data collection, analytics, and reporting for clinical research. As a cloud service provider in the life science industry, the company’s purpose is working for a healthier world. With this core purpose in mind, Viedoc attempts to accelerate drug development and cost efficiency.
Two years ago, Viedoc’s CEO Mats Klaar formed an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) project group with a dedicated budget to strengthen our claim of working towards a healthier world.
It is clear that there is an increasing demand for transparency and ethical practices in the clinical trials industry. At Viedoc, we frequently get Request For Information (RFI’s) sent to us. During 2023, 17% of all our RFI’s included questions surrounding sustainability and, more specifically–how we work towards a healthier world when it comes to sustainability.
In order to acknowledge this increasing demand, the ESG group decided to create an ESG report to illustrate full transparency regarding our sustainability work at Viedoc. This 2023 ESG report was entirely produced in-house, using only internal resources and aims to collect, measure, and disclose Viedoc’s ESG performance.
One environmental initiative mentioned in the report is the added greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in all quotations and work orders. This aims to empower our clients with the knowledge to make greener choices. Choosing an EDC provider is no small decision, and we're here to ensure sustainability is part of that choice.
On the social side, one of the initiatives taken during 2023 was the Free License Initiative. This initiative aligns with Viedoc’s commitment to working for a healthier world and works in parallel with the UN SDG goals–specifically SDG Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing. The initiative entails providing free licenses to companies who are conducting clinical trials in one of the following areas: HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Hepatitis B, and Neglected tropical diseases.
The report also covers how Viedoc embarked on a transformational journey in the summer of 2023 to scale up the business with the support and guidance of a consultant firm named Crisp as a part of the Governance chapter. The plan aims to foster a collaborative and cross-functional culture across all departments, ultimately impacting the company’s ecosystem as a whole.
Viedocs' work towards a sustainable future doesn’t end here. The in-house ESG group will continue to work on matters related to sustainability in 2024. One of the main topics on the team's agenda is to investigate environmental certificates and continue our transparency efforts by creating and releasing ESG reports annually.
“When we talk about Viedoc working for a healthier world, it’s not just an idealistic slogan–it’s our daily mission. For us at Viedoc, it is about a sincere commitment to positively impacting society, driven by our core values. Sustainability is personal for us, which is why we are going to continue to improve our ESG work every year,” says Connor Allen, Sales Operations Specialist & Project leader of the ESG group at Viedoc.
