The OCT Nordics 2024 Conference in Copenhagen was a dynamic gathering of industry leaders, filled with energy and rich insights aimed at advancing the future of clinical trials. The first day concluded with a memorable evening networking dinner, hosted by Clinical Research Services (CRS) and Viedoc.

The two-day conference at the Clarion Hotel & Congress offered a valuable opportunity for professionals in the pharma, biotech, medical device, clinical trial technology, and CRO sectors to network. It served as a platform to exchange ideas on operational innovations revolutionizing clinical trials.

The hottest topics

The most popular subjects during the conference were decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) and the technologies transforming patient engagement. Attendees were engaged in conversations about how integrating these solutions not only reduces patient burden but also accelerates trials while maintaining high-quality data integrity. As part of the discussions, we asked David Hal Mollerup, Senior Director, Clinical Data Science at ALK, about the future role of machine learning and AI in clinical data management. He shared the following insight: "Machine learning will help us clean a lot of data in a semi-automatic manner, reducing the time we spend on data management and improving the timeliness of data readiness."

This perspective echoed broader conversations on AI in clinical analytics and innovations in protocol design, which resonated throughout the event. The popular subjects extended beyond the conference rooms and into the networking sessions, where discussions centered on streamlining trial processes, reducing patient burden, and incorporating advanced data management strategies. These insights enriched the dialogue among participants and served as a precursor to the evening networking event hosted by CRS and Viedoc.

An unforgettable evening

Following an engaging first day, Viedoc and CRS, hosted a much-appreciated dinner at the Skybar at Scandic Strandpark, offering breathtaking views of the Copenhagen skyline. With over 55 key players from the conference in attendance, the night carried on the day’s vibrant energy—filled with laughter, great food, and in-depth conversations that carried on long into the evening. Antonio Mastroianni from Viedoc remarked:

The casual setting fostered deep and genuine conversations among participants from various sectors of the clinical trial field. This environment encouraged thoughtful reflection on managing clinical trial data and making decisions based on evidence. We're grateful to everyone who took the time to join us. Your presence and dialogue made the night special.
